Kings of the Black Throne vs Premier Athletes

Rampage (taped last week after Collision in Southaven, MI) kicked off with The Kings of the Black Throne taking on The Premier Athletes. Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari were the competitors on the heel side with Josh Woods and Smart Mark Sterling on the outside. The announce team explained that Buddy Matthews was still out with injury and Black and King were simply forging ahead. Early in the match, Woods got involved to help their team gain an advantage with Tony Nese taking out Brody King with a Fosbury Flop (which Tony Schiavone incorrectly called a Tope con Giro).

Daivari then hit Malakai Black in the head with Sterling’s clipboard after another Josh Woods distraction, allowing Nese to hit a 450 splash leading to a near fall.

Tony Nese attempted another 450 splash and landed with his knees directly on Malakai’s knees in a painful-looking spot. Black then picked Nese up and hit him with the spinning back heel kick for the win.

Roderick Strong in Action

The Conglomeration of Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Orange Cassidy were on commentary for the next match which featured Roderick Strong taking on Ben Bishop who Daddy Magic noted used to be a goaltender for the Ottawa Senators.

Strong made quick work of Bishop with a Running Knee. After the match, The Conglomeration stared down Undisputed Kingdom as the announce team noted that Roderick Strong would face Dalton Castle tomorrow night on Collision with the winner going on to face Mark Briscoe for the ROH Championship at Death Before Dishonor.

The Virtuosa

A Deonna Purrazzo promo package aired with her saying she likes what she’s become and she was going to burn the place down and remake it in her image.

High-Flying Four Way

Next up was the high-flying four-way with Rey Fenix vs. Komander vs. AR Fox vs Angelico. As expected, this was fast and nearly impossible to write notes for. So instead, check out these clips!

In the end, Rey Fenix picked up the win with a crucifix-style submission over AR Fox.

The Learning Tree Interview

A backstage interview aired from this past Wednesday after Jericho took out Samoa Joe. Jericho promoted a “very special edition” of TV Time this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Thunder Rosa vs. Rachael Ellering

Next up was Thunder Rosa taking on Rachael Ellering whose last appearance was on ROH back in May. Thunder Rosa picked up the win after submitting Ellering to the Cobra Clutch. After the match, Deonna Purrazzo ran down and attacked both Ellering and Rosa.

AEW then released yet another in a long line of high-quality online-exclusive promos.

Top Flight & Action Andretti vs. Shane Taylor Promotions

The main event of Rampage was Top Flight and Action Andretti taking on Shane Taylor, Lee Moriarty, and Anthony Ogogo.

All six competitors put their all into trying to capture this crowd but it seemed as if there was just no rousing them despite some impressive high-flying moves. In the end, Shane Taylor knocked out Action Andretti with a punch and got the pinfall victory. After the show aired, AEW announced that Top Flight (without Andretti) would be facing STP again tomorrow night on Collision.

Announced for Collision Tomorrow from Calgary, Alberta:

  • Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly vs. Undisputed Kingdom
  • Skye Blue vs. Harley Cameron
  • Nyla Rose in Action

Final Thoughts

A bit of a strange, slower-feeling episode of Rampage, especially with it having been taped following Collision last week and not after Dynamite as usual. But the opening contest between Kings of the Black Throne and Premier Athletes was entertaining and the 4-way was full of inventive high-flying spots.
