CM Punk’s second UFC fight is official for UFC 225 in Chicago

The UFC has officially announced that CM Punk (Phil Brooks) will have his second professional fight at UFC 225 against Mike Jackson in Chicago, Illinois at the United Center.

The UFC has officially announced that CM Punk (Phil Brooks) will have his second professional fight on Saturday, June 9th at UFC 225 against Mike Jackson in Chicago, Illinois at the United Center.

Punk’s debut in the UFC took place at UFC 203 in September 2016 amidst heavy criticism due to his lack of experience and was stopped by prospect Mickey Gall in the opening round of their welterweight fight. Gall earned the chance to fight Punk after defeating Mike Jackson earlier that year with a first-round stoppage.

The UFC 203 card did in the range of 425-475,000 buys, which also featured a heavyweight title fight between Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem but the above-average number of buys was attributed to the attraction of Punk’s first fight.

The UFC 225 event will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero and will also feature an interim welterweight title bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Colby Covington.

Both Jackson and the 39-year old Punk have one professional fight each, with Jackson also fighting an amateur bout in 2009, which was a decision loss to Nick Felder.
