New Japan Pro Wrestling ran their second of three straight G1 cards at Budokan Hall Saturday with the final B Block tournament matches. IWGP heavyweight champion Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Tetsuya Naito remained alive on the final B Block show.

Earlier in the night, Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Tetsuya Naito with the Zack Driver to pin and eliminate Naito from the tournament. Naito finished with 12 points and would have lost tiebreakers to both Omega and Ibushi, who followed in the main event.

Omega and Ibushi had an outstanding main event with their first singles match since August 2012, which took place in the same building when the two were with DDT.

Just like their last match, Ibushi was victorious after a thrilling match that went 23 minutes and 13 seconds.

The closing sequence saw Ibushi hit a Tiger Driver from the top rope and followed with the Kamigoye before pinning his Golden Lovers’ teammate.

Ibushi finishes the G1 with 12 points, the same total as Omega and Naito, advancing to the final with wins over both. Ibushi will face A Block winner Hiroshi Tanahashi at Sunday’s final with the winner earning an IWGP heavyweight title shot at Wrestle Kingdom next January at the Tokyo Dome.

We will have a big rundown of today’s show for members of the POST Wrestling Café with Wai Ting, WH Park and myself reviewing the show.
