The announcement was made that Finlay will be removed from the 32-man tournament where he was scheduled to face Hiroyoshi Tenzan in the opening round. The promotion has not yet selected a replacement for Finlay.

Finlay suffered a dislocated left shoulder in the main event of Saturday’s Honor Rising show at Korakuen Hall. Finlay was teaming with Juice Robinson against ROH tag champions The Briscoes.

The New Japan Cup tournament begins on Friday, March 8, with the winner facing Jay White for the IWGP heavyweight title at the G1 Supercard in April at Madison Square Garden.
