As noted on Rewind-A-SmackDown Tuesday, Tommaso Ciampa is set to undergo surgery and will out of action for an unknown period. Dave Meltzer had additional information on Wrestling Observer Radio on Tuesday.
The WWE confirmed the news Wednesday stating that the NXT champion will undergo an anterior cervical fusion procedure on Thursday.
We were told this week that the status of Ciampa would be addressed at next Wednesday’s NXT television tapings.
Ciampa has not wrestled since the NXT tapings on February 20th.
