The G1 Climax tournament continued Wednesday in Hamamatsu with the A Block matches setting up this weekend’s finale.
In the main event, Kazuchika Okada defeated EVIL after hitting a spinning Rainmaker and the full version to improve his record to 7-1 with 14 points. The win by Okada means that EVIL is eliminated, and the A Block will come down to Okada vs. Kota Ibushi at Budokan Hall this Saturday.
If Okada wins or goes to a draw with Ibushi, he will win the block while Ibushi must defeat Okada to advance to Monday’s final.
Earlier in the show, Ibushi defeated Zack Sabre Jr. with the Kamigoye and heads into Saturday’s match with Okada at 10 points.
The other tournament matches saw Will Ospreay pin KENTA with the Storm Breaker, Bad Luck Fale upset Hiroshi Tanahashi using a backslide, and Sanada pinned Lance Archer with the Japanese rolling leg clutch.
On Thursday, the B Block matches take place from Fukuoka where there are numerous ‘must-win’ situations as the tournament winds down. Below are the matches on Thursday:
*Taichi (3-4) vs. Toru Yano (3-4)
*Jeff Cobb (3-4) vs. Tetsuya Naito (4-3)
*Jon Moxley (5-2) vs. Hirooki Goto (4-3)
*Juice Robinson (3-4) vs. Jay White (4-3)
*Tomohiro Ishii (4-3) vs. Shingo Takagi (2-5)
