The ratings are in for the January 1st episodes of All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite on TNT and NXT on the USA Network. AEW kicked off 2020 by bringing in 967,000 viewers on Wednesday night and NXT brought in 548,000 viewers, per Showbuzz Daily.
Dynamite was live this week from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida and was headlined by Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks versus PAC, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix. NXT’s show was not live this week as it was their ‘Year End Awards’ show that featured some of the top NXT matches of the year, awards being handed out to the roster and the revelation of the participants in the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
In the 18-49 demographic, AEW reeled in 467,000 viewers and NXT drew 195,000 viewers. The 967,000 number is AEW’s highest viewership since the October 16th episode of Dynamite. NXT’s last live rating was December 18th which saw the crowning of Rhea Ripley as NXT Women’s Champion.
There has yet to be matches announced for the 1/8 episode of NXT but AEW announced a ‘Tribute To Memphis Wrestling Legends’ segment, Kris Statlander versus Riho for the AEW Women’s World Championship, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix versus Dustin and Cody Rhodes, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho meeting face-to-face and Moxley giving his answer to Jericho about joining The Inner Circle. Also, Cody Rhodes will either accept or deny MJF’s stipulations in order to receive a match against MJF at Revolution on February 29th and rounding out the lineup is Kenny Omega and Hangman Page teaming up to face Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy of Private Party.
