AEW Dynamite Notes: DDP Returning To In-Ring Action, PAC vs. Darby Allin

For the first time since 2016, Diamond Dallas Page is wrestling in a sanctioned match. Also, PAC vs. Darby Allin is slated for next week, Statlander & Shida versus Awesome Kong and Mel is official as well.

All Elite Wrestling is presenting their ‘Bash At The Beach’ event on January 15th from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida and on that show, WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page is making his return to in-ring competition for the first time since he competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. On the January 8th episode of Dynamite, Page and MJF exchanged words and that resulted in MJF low-blowing Page after Page fought off The Butcher and The Blade. On next week’s Dynamite, Page is teaming with Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall to take on MJF, The Butcher and Blade who’ll be accompanied by The Bunny.

Riho defeated Kris Statlander to retain her AEW Women’s World Championship with the unwanted help of The Nightmare Collective (Brandi Rhodes, Mel & Awesome Kong). 15-year plus veteran of the pro wrestling business, Dr. Luther debuted alongside the Nightmare Collective on Dynamite as well. AEW World Champion Chris Jericho took to Instagram to congratulate Luther on his AEW debut. Luther was the hairless individual in the Brandi Rhodes promos that aired over the last several weeks.

To close Dynamite, Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager were awaiting Jon Moxley’s decision to join The Inner Circle or decline their offer. Moxley pretended to join the group and revealed his Inner Circle shirt and after Hager and Guevara left the ring, Moxley gave Jericho a Paradigm Shift and left Southaven, Mississippi with the Ford GT that Jericho offered last week.

AEW’s ‘Tribute To Memphis Wrestling Legends’ segment took place before Dynamite went on the air and according to those in attendance, Jerry “The King” Lawler was mentioned. On next week’s Dynamite, PAC is taking on Darby Allin, Kris Statlander is teaming with Hikaru Shida to face Awesome Kong and Mel. On the Chris Jericho cruise in two weeks, fans will see Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt, Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) take on Santana, Ortiz and AEW World Champion Chris Jericho.
