WWE SmackDown Notes: Robert Roode Returns, John Morrison In Action Next Week

Robert Roode returned from his suspension, The Usos took on King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison back in action next week and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are confirmed for the women's Royal Rumble match.

WWE is two weeks away from their 33rd annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 26th in Houston, Texas. Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown added to the build to that show and it featured the return of former United States Champion Robert Roode. The main event of the show was based around the return to in-ring competition of Jimmy and Jey Uso as they took on King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. Interference from The Revival led to Roman Reigns coming to the corner of The Usos. As the match was progressing, Reigns hit Corbin with a Spear which caused a disqualification and as the two parties were brawling on the outside, Robert Roode ambushed Reigns from behind.

Last month, WWE suspended Roode for violating the company’s talent wellness policy. Suspended along with Roode was Primo Colon who has not wrestled for WWE since February of 2019.

While mentioning the Royal Rumble, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are set for the women’s Royal Rumble match. They join Charlotte Flair as participants slated for the match. Baron Corbin has been added to the men’s Royal Rumble and he joins Ricochet, Rey Mysterio, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, Erick Rowan, Drew McIntyre, Elias and Dolph Ziggler.

On next week’s SmackDown in Greensboro, North Carolina, John Morrison will face Big E in singles competition. This match came about when The Miz defeated Kofi Kingston on tonight’s show and Morrison took out Big E with a Parkour kick on the outside that caused Kofi to be distracted.
