Ring of Honor adds KENTA to Supercard of Honor over WM Weekend

Ring of Honor has announced that New Japan Pro Wrestling’s KENTA is the latest addition to the Supercard of Honor event this April in Lakeland, Florida.

Ring of Honor has announced that New Japan Pro Wrestling’s KENTA is the latest addition to the Supercard of Honor event this April in Lakeland, Florida.

The news follows announcements this past week of Will Ospreay, Jay White, and El Phantasmo from New Japan.

Supercard of Honor is set to take place from the RF Funding Center on Saturday, April 4th with a 7 pm bell time. The show will go head-to-head that night with NXT TakeOver at the Amalie Arena in Tampa over WrestleMania weekend.

After minimal crossover between New Japan and Ring of Honor over the past few months, Supercard of Honor represents a renewed commitment to the relationship with New Japan’s involvement in the show.

While working for Pro Wrestling NOAH, KENTA had extensive involvement with ROH, first coming in December 2005 to face Low Ki at that year’s Final Battle for the GHC junior heavyweight title.

KENTA wrestled the likes of Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong, Davey Richards, The Briscoes, Tyler Black, and Rocky Romero among his opponents over the next three years.

In September 2006, he challenged ROH champion, Bryan Danielson, at Glory by Honor V and later challenged Nigel McGuinness for the title in March 2009.

It was also in Ring of Honor, where KENTA took on Mitsuharu Misawa at the Manhattan Center in November 2007 for the GHC heavyweight title.
