Daniel Bryan and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt were already on a collision course that is coming to a head at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 26th but during tonight’s episode of SmackDown from Greensboro, North Carolina, a ‘Strap Match’ stipulation was added to their Universal Title bout.
The show kicked off with the return of Glenn “Kane” Jacobs who cut a promo about the Royal Rumble and his experiences and success in the match. Kane was soon interrupted by a Firefly Fun House promo that led to “The Fiend” appearing from underneath the ring. Kane exited the ring as the lights went out and turned back towards the ring before “The Fiend” could ambush him from behind. Daniel Bryan then entered the ring and delivered a running knee and Wyatt soon retreated and went back under the ring.
Were @KaneWWE & @WWEDanielBryan going to let #TheFiend @WWEBrayWyatt escape with the upper hand?

After the segment, Daniel Bryan did a backstage interview and stated that he is tired of The Fiend running away when he’s trapped in a corner and decided to challenge him to a Strap match. One of Wyatt’s hands will be tied to a strap/rope and the other end of it will be connected to one of Daniel Bryan’s hands at the Royal Rumble as the two men battle it out for the Universal Championship.
