NXT is just four days away from their TakeOver: Portland show and tonight’s episode of NXT on the USA Network was the go-home show before TakeOver. With their event this Sunday, two matches for next week’s show were announced. The first of those announcements was the return to in-ring competition of Velveteen Dream. Prior to a house show over the weekend, Dream last wrestled on the September 18th episode of NXT on-which he lost the NXT North American Title to Roderick Strong. Dream will be back in action on the USA Network against Roderick Strong next week.
During Strong’s match against Bronson Reed, Dream appeared on the titantron and taunted Roderick Strong with tights that have the face of Marina Shafir and their son Troy’s face on the tights.

After defeating Angel Garza, former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush earned his shot at the title and he’ll take on the current champion Jordan Devlin next week. Ahead of their NXT Tag Team Title match at TakeOver: Portland against Undisputed ERA (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish), a segment aired on tonight’s NXT featuring Dunne and Riddle jumping onto Triple H’s plane and heading to Portland, Oregon.
