The Coronavirus outbreak has caused many of promotions in pro wrestling to either postpone or cancel their upcoming shows. One of the pending stories is the status of WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Florida and the announcement that many are waiting to hear concerning the status of WrestleMania has yet to be decided.

A meeting was held today with Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and the Executive Policy Group which is made up of a County Administrator, the chair of county commission, the Mayor of Temple Terrace, Plant City and several more officials. Jane Castor stated that immediate action does not need to be taken for events that are several weeks down the road such as WrestleMania.

County Commissioner Les Miller said the Hillsborough Emergency Policy Group are waiting another week before making a decision about the status of WrestleMania.

Jane Castor appeared on 102.5 The Bone yesterday and addressed the Coronavirus in the city of Tampa and one of the first questions she was asked was about WrestleMania and here’s what she had to say:

“Well, I can’t tell you anything. We are still assessing. We hope that we can have WrestleMania, but we are in the process of assessing that now. We have our Executive Policy Group, which is made up of a County Administrator, the chair of county commission and the Mayor of Tampa, Temple Terrace and Plant City, and a few others and we will be having a meeting tomorrow around noon where we’re gonna make decisions on the larger scale events that are planned for Tampa.”

Multiple independent promotions have cancelled their respective shows across the U.S. and the likes of OTT in Ireland announced that they’ve had to cancel their biggest show of the year in ScrapperMania 6. As more information becomes available about the situation at hand, stay tuned to POST Wrestling as coverage of the impact of the Coronavirus on pro wrestling continues.
