The Nevada State Athletic Commission held an emergency meeting Saturday regarding upcoming combat sports events in the state amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The commission voted in favor of revoking licensing for all combat sports-related events within the state until March 25th.

Executive Director Bob Bennett issued the following statement to ESPN on the decision:

I’ve been in constant contact with a litany of doctors and medical professionals and am intimately familiar with most professional and amateur sports events being suspended at this point in time for an undetermined period. I will continue to collect information and speak with various medical experts and be prepared to provide the information to the chairman and commissioners on March 25.

The date comes three days ahead of the UFC’s scheduled card at their Apex facility on Saturday, March 28th with a card originally scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio that night. Additionally, the UFC moved a Fight Night card set for Portland, Oregon on April 11th to the Apex.

Earlier this week, the California State Athletic Commission canceled all combats sports events through the end of March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
