SmackDown women’s title six-pack challenge added to WrestleMania

The SmackDown women’s title match has been announced for WrestleMania 36 with Bayley set to defend the championship in a six-pack challenge.

The SmackDown women’s title match has been announced for WrestleMania 36 with Bayley set to defend the championship in a six-pack challenge.

The match was announced during a segment where Paige appeared via Skype and informed Bayley she would defend the title against Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina, Naomi, and Sasha Banks.

The segment involving Paige was initially scheduled for last week’s show, but they stated Paige had travel issues and didn’t make it to the Performance Center last week. This week she did appear on video but not in the actual venue.

Tamina is an interesting choice as she has not had a match since the Royal Rumble in January and not featured in any of the storylines on SmackDown. It would appear she is taking the spot of Carmella, who is notably absent from the lineup and had been featured prominently in the women’s division over the past few weeks.

Carmella lost a number one contender’s match to Naomi going into Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia and last wrestled on the March 6th episode of SmackDown teaming with Dana Brooke and losing to Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.

They also stated that Sami Zayn will defend the Intercontinental title against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania if Drew Gulak can defeat Shinsuke Nakamura on next week’s show.
