NXT TakeOver: Tampa matches to air on NXT on USA Network starting April 1

As confirmed by WWE, the matches that were planned for NXT TakeOver: Tampa will now be airing on the USA Network starting April 1st.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, a plethora of pro wrestling shows around the globe had to either be postponed or cancelled and one of those shows was NXT TakeOver: Tampa which was scheduled for April 4th from the Amalie Arena. The matches that were going to take place at TakeOver will now be airing on NXT TV on the USA Network, as confirmed by WWE.

The news was first broken by Sports Illustrated that the matches that were planned for TakeOver will air on the USA Network starting April 1st, with the addition that Paul “Triple H” Levesque will be appearing on the March 25th episode of NXT to make the announcement. During a commercial break on the 3/23 episode of RAW, it was promoted that Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa would have to answer to Triple H after their brawl at the WWE Performance Center several weeks ago.

The only match that was official for NXT TakeOver: Tampa was a Ladder match to determine the next challenger to the NXT Women’s Championship coming out of Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley’s NXT Women’s Title match at WrestleMania 36. Mia Yim, Chelsea Green and Tegan Nox had already qualified for the Ladder match and there were three spots remaining in the bout. Candice LeRae vs. Mercedes Martinez was promoted for an edition of NXT several weeks back with the winner earning a spot in the match.
