WWE NXT notes: Killer Kross dons a new name & attacks Ciampa, Timothy Thatcher debuts

Killer Kross sets his sights on Tommaso Ciampa, Timothy Thatcher is an interim tag team champion with Matt Riddle and several matches were made official for next week's NXT on the USA Network.

NXT was live on the USA Network and the conclusion of the show saw Killer Kross make his first non-vignette appearance on the show. Kross attacked Tommaso Ciampa while Ciampa was addressing the result of his match against Johnny Gargano from last week. As Ciampa was speaking, he was ambushed from behind and Kross hovered over Ciampa and there was another individual beside Kross whose heel was shown in the shot. Kross has a shirt up on WWE Shop and according to the site, he’ll now be going by “Karrion Kross”.

It was announced on WWE’s ‘The Bump’ program that because Pete Dunne is not able to get back into the USA at the moment, Matt Riddle had to select a partner to defend the NXT Tag Team Titles with against Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. Riddle’s partner was revealed to be former wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion Timothy Thatcher. Thatcher and Riddle were successful in their first title defense.

 

 

Velveteen Dream had a run-in with Finn Balor and the NXT Twitter account teased that-that will continue in some form next week. Also, Shotzi Blackheart will team with Tegan Nox to take on Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez.

Akira Tozawa scored a victory over Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in the interim NXT Cruiserweight Championship tournament and the tournament continues next week when the following matches take place:

  • Jack Gallagher vs. El Hijo del Fantasma
  • Drake Maverick vs. Jake Atlas
  • KUSHIDA vs. Tony Nese
