The main event of tonight’s AEW Fight For The Fallen event saw Jon Moxley defeat Brian Cage to retain the AEW World Championship. Moxley worked Cage’s arm for the majority of the match and before Cage possibly tapped out, Taz threw in the towel to end the match. Once the bout was over, Cage started attacking Moxley which led to the return of Darby Allin who last competed at Double Or Nothing in May because of an injury that was caused by way of Cage.

Over the past several weeks, Nyla Rose has been teasing that she’s going to be bringing a manager to her corner in AEW and that manager was revealed as Vickie Guerrero.

At the start of the broadcast, Taz was in Tony Schiavone’s seat at the commentator’s table and it was announced that Schiavone is at home awaiting the results from his COVID-19 test. Chris Jericho also returned to commentary table for the second hour of Fight For The Fallen but before that, he had a segment in the ring where he along with Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz had a bucket of orange juice and oranges dumped on them by way of Orange Cassidy. During that segment, Jericho talked about the ratings and AEW winning the key demos.

The 7/15 episode of Dynamite saw the debut of former NXT talent M.J. Jenkins who was a part of the mass WWE releases/furloughs in April. She teamed with Kenzie Paige and they fell in defeat to The Nightmare Sisters (Allie & Brandi Rhodes). FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) scored a victory over Pentagon Jr. and Fenix and after the match, they went back to their signature truck but the truck wouldn’t start up.

AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida did a backstage promo with Alex Marvez and she stated that if anyone felt like they have what it takes to challenge her, come forward. That promo was met with the following response:

On next week’s AEW Dynamite, Cody will defend the TNT Championship. Hangman Page is set to compete against Dark Order member “Five” who’ll have Brodie Lee in his corner. Diamante and Ivelisse will both be in action on Dynamite on 7/22 against each other. A Falls Count Anywhere bout between The Young Bucks and The Butcher & The Blade is set for the program, along with MJF wrestling in singles action. The last announced addition to next week’s card is a tag match featuring Chris Jericho and Jake Hager versus Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy.
