Sammy Guevara returns to AEW following his suspension

After being suspended for several weeks after the derogatory comments he made in the past about Sasha Banks, Sammy Guevara made his return to AEW to assist The Inner Circle.

The main event of tonight’s AEW Dynamite episode featured Chris Jericho and Jake Hager taking on Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy. After Hager and Jericho scored the victory, Santana and Ortiz joined in on the post-match beat down on Jurassic Express. Adding on to the pile-on was Sammy Guevara, who was dressed as Serpentico.

Sammy Guevara was suspended by All Elite Wrestling in late June after a clip from his appearance on the ‘RAW’s 4th Hour’ podcast resurfaced. In the clip, Guevara stated that he wanted to “rape Sasha Banks”.

Sasha Banks spoke to Sammy Guevara in private about his comments and later addressed his comments in interviews weeks following the incident. Guevara issued a statement after speaking with Banks and apologized for what he said. He credited Banks for helping him “learn a gigantic lesson”.

While Guevara was suspended, his salary was donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville, Florida and tonight was his first appearance on AEW programming since the clip resurfaced. Guevara will be in action next week in a ten-man tag on Dynamite.
