WWE confirmed that their 2020 SummerSlam event will not emanate from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts as planned. SummerSlam is scheduled to take place on August 23rd and the event will stream live on the WWE Network from a location that is to be announced at a later date. WWE issued the following statement concerning the news:

“In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future.

SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23, at 7 p.m. ET on WWE Network, and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming.”

WWE’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in Philadelphia was the last pay-per-view before the Coronavirus outbreak which has the world in its current state. WWE’s SummerSlam weekend also includes NXT TakeOver: XXX and the build to that show began on the 7/22 episode of NXT.

Scheduled for TakeOver: XXX is an NXT North American Championship ladder match. There have yet to be matches announced for SummerSlam as of this writing but as more information about the venue announcement and match announcements became available, POST Wrestling will continue to provide updates.
