Coming out of the 7/29 episode of WWE NXT, the build to NXT TakeOver: XXX on August 22nd continued. Dexter Lumis bested Finn Balor and Timothy Thatcher in a three-way match to secure his spot in the North American Championship ladder match at TakeOver: XXX. Lumis joins Bronson Reed in the bout. On next week’s show, NXT U.K.’s Ridge Holland will be in action for the first time on the USA Network as he’ll compete against Damian Priest and Oney Lorcan for a spot in the North American Title ladder match.
After several months away from the ring, Kyle O’Reilly made his return to NXT and joined Undisputed ERA in a beat down of Imperium. Next week, O’Reilly and Fish are going to be challenging Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Also scheduled for next week is a singles match between Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai. The winner of that match will secure themselves a shot at Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship.
