New Japan Pro Wrestling will launch NJPW Strong, a weekly Friday night series on New Japan World that will begin with the New Japan Cup USA tournament.

The eight-man single-elimination tournament begins next Friday at 10 pm Eastern with the semi-finals on August 14th and the finals on August 21st.

The winner of the tournament will get a future shot at the IWGP United States championship, which is currently held by Jon Moxley.

The following first-round matches are scheduled for next Friday’s show:
*Karl Fredericks vs. KENTA
*Jeff Cobb vs. Tanga Loa
*David Finlay vs. Chase Owens
*Tama Tonga vs. Brody King

The situation involving the IWGP U.S. title is tricky as Moxley is not able to wrestle on behalf of New Japan in the U.S. due to his existing deal with AEW and unable to travel to Japan due to the current travel restrictions.
