AEW Dynamite notes: Mike Chioda shows up, Heather Monroe debuts, FTR piledriver

Mike Chioda appeared in several segments on Dynamite, Heather Monroe debuted, multiple matches were set up for next week, FTR delivered a piledriver to Ricky Morton and there were more notes coming out of the 8/12/20 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Longtime WWE official Mike Chioda was featured in multiple segments on the 8/12 AEW Dynamite. Chioda was let go from the WWE as a part of the company’s mass releases/furloughs in April. Chioda first appeared on Dynamite as the official for the TNT Championship match between Cody and Scorpio Sky. Chioda then was shown in a backstage segment with Alex Marvez that was interrupted by Chris Jericho who tried to sway Chioda to his side before Chioda officiated the match between Orange Cassidy and Jericho, which Cassidy was victorious in.

Independent wrestler Heather Monroe made her AEW Dynamite debut as she took on the Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida.

Next week’s Dynamite will take place on August 22nd, which is a Saturday. The NBA has games scheduled for next Wednesday and Saturday on TNT and on Saturday, Dynamite is set to air either at 6 PM EST or after the playoff game[s] conclude.

On that next show, Brodie Lee is challenging Cody for the TNT Championship. As for 8/19, AEW is going to stream a portion of the 2019 All Out pay-per-view on their YouTube channel.

The August 22nd show will feature the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Cup tournament, as well as several more additional matches including The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) versus Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, John Silver & Alan Angels). Darby Allin is set to return to Dynamite after falling short in his AEW World Title match. Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. are set to team with The Butcher and The Blade to take on Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes in eight-man tag team action. The 8/22 Dynamite will also feature Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) versus FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).

While mentioning FTR, they delivered a spike piledriver to Ricky Morton of The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express after there was a scuffle between Tully Blanchard and Morton.

John Pollock and Wai Ting will have a new episode of Rewind-A-Dynamite up on the site and that podcast can be heard at this link.
