New Japan Pro Wrestling allowed for fans to return to live shows in July for the final stretch of the New Japan Cup. The company established rules that fans were not allowed to verbally voice their emotions (yelling & chanting) to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. NJPW has had fans at every show since the final stretch of the New Japan Cup and they’re scheduled to hold a show at Jingu Stadium on August 29th and fans will be in attendance for that event.
NJPW published an article on NJPW1972.com noting that they’re providing an opportunity for fans to chant and further express their emotions during shows via Yamaha’s ‘Remote Cheerer’ system. The system will be tested at their 8/26 and 8/27 shows at Korakuen Hall and it’ll be available to use at the Jingu Stadium show.
The Remote Cheerer powered by Sound UD is often used in stadiums and the system broadcasts cheers, boos and chants from users’ homes to the venue via the internet. Fans tap buttons on an app to make their feelings known through speakers placed around the stadium, replacing the crowd noise.
In New Japan’s case, the system will only be available for those attending the shows live. NJPW’s Jingu Stadium event is being headlined by Tetsuya Naito challenging EVIL for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships.
