The main event of last week’s SummerSlam pay-per-view saw ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt defeat Braun Strowman to become a two-time Universal Champion. Shortly after Wyatt’s victory, he was ambushed by Roman Reigns who took himself off of WWE TV at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. This led to a three-way match for the Universal Championship being set up for WWE’s Payback pay-per-view and just one week after returning to the company, Roman Reigns is Universal Champion once again.
Reigns’ partnership with Paul Heyman was revealed on this past Friday’s edition of SmackDown. It wasn’t until Strowman and Wyatt had taken one another out of the match that Heyman had Reigns sign the contract to officially become a part of the match.

Roman Reigns won the Universal Championship for the first time at SummerSlam 2018 but soon had to relinquish the title due to his Leukemia returning. Reigns was on the chase for the title since his return in February of 2019 and two years after initially winning the title, he’s now a two-time Universal Champion.
