WWE wrapped up their Payback pay-per-view on 8/30 and during the show, it was announced that their next PPV will take place on September 27th and it’ll be the Clash of Champions event. Last year’s Clash of Champions show was headlined by Seth Rollins versus Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship and the final image of that show saw ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt attacking Rollins.
At Payback, in his first WWE main roster pay-per-view, Keith Lee scored a victory over Randy Orton after hitting a “Spirit Bomb”.

While speaking of Keith Lee, John Bradshaw Layfield made an offer of sorts to Lee prior to his match against Randy Orton:

WWE provided a storyline update on WWE Champion Drew McIntyre after McIntyre was punted in the head three times on RAW by Randy Orton. Here’s the update by way of WWE.com:
“Ahead of WWE Payback, WWE Digital has learned Drew McIntyre sustained a hairline jaw fracture as a result of the three kicks to the skull from Randy Orton on Monday Night Raw.
Charly Caruso reported on Raw that medical staff were fearful of a skull fracture and potential brain bleeding to Drew McIntyre after Randy Orton delivered the vicious attacks to thee WWE Champion. The medical officials did also express concern the injuries could potentially be career-threatening.
McIntyre was eventually loaded into an ambulance and transported to a local medical facility for further testing.

WWE backstage interviewer Alyse Ashton made her TV debut in a backstage segment with Matt Riddle before Riddle went on to defeat Corbin at Payback.
In the tag team match featuring Rey and Dominik Mysterio versus Seth Rollins and Murphy, Dominik pinned Murphy which led to Rollins scowling Murphy post-match. On the 8/31 RAW, Seth Rollins is going one-on-one with Rey Mysterio.
