WWE NXT notes: Adam Cole vs. Finn Balor for NXT Title, Steel Cage match set for 9/8

NXT's four-way 60 minute Iron Man match resulted in a tie between Adam Cole and Finn Balor. Next week, the two men will meet for the NXT Championship.

NXT’s main event this week for their ‘Super Tuesday’ special was a four-way 60 minute Iron Man match featuring Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Adam Cole and Finn Balor. Each man scored a fall and it was tied until the final stretches of the match when Balor was able to pin Ciampa. With a mere 15 seconds left on the clock, Adam Cole made his way into the ring and hit “The Last Shot” to pin Balor and tie the score between them at 2 falls. It was then made official by William Regal that on 9/8, Balor and Cole will meet for the NXT Championship. It was just one year ago that Balor made his return to NXT and confronted Adam Cole.

On next week’s program, Mercedes Martinez is squaring off with Rhea Ripley in a Steel Cage match.

Tonight’s show also saw Isaiah “Swerve” Scott pin NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar in a six-man tag team match. Imperium (Fabian Aichner & Marcel Barthel) interfered in the match and ambushed Breezango who defeated them for the NXT Tag Team Titles last week. Bronson Reed was in action as well as he went one-on-one with Timothy Thatcher. Reed tapped out to Thatcher after Austin Theory got involved and got revenge on Reed for slapping him during a backstage segment last week.
