The main event of Friday Night SmackDown featured a fatal four-way match to determine the next contender for the Universal Title at the Clash of Champions later this month.

Earlier in the show, Big E. was removed from the match after an attack by Sheamus where Big E. was taken away in an ambulance and replaced by Jey Uso. The match also featured Sheamus, King Corbin, and Matt Riddle.

Uso won the match after Riddle hit the Floating Bro on Sheamus but was interrupted with a frog splash by Uso, who pinned Riddle.

It sets up the unlikely Universal title match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso for September 27th with the story that Paul Heyman persuaded management to put Uso in as the replacement for Big E.

The card for Clash of Champions includes the WWE title match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton, which was established this past Monday on Raw.

SmackDown also featured the long-awaited breakup of Bayley and Sasha Banks after the two lost their rematch to women’s tag champions Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax. After Jax pinned both challengers with a crossbody, Bayley attacked the injured Banks with a long beatdown including a chair wrapped around Banks’ neck and Bayley stomping the chair coming off the turnbuckle.
