NXT set up several matches for next week’s broadcast on September 16th as they’ll return to Wednesday nights on the USA Network. The newly crowned NXT North American Champion Damian Priest will have his first title defense against Timothy Thatcher who’s been scouting Priest over the past several weeks.
Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango) defeated Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel on the 8/27 episode of NXT to become tag team champions. Aichner and Barthel are receiving their rematch next week. Also, after helping one another fight off The Robert Stone Brand, Shotzi Blackheart held up Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Title which Shirai snatched away. On 9/16, they’ll meet in a non-title match.

Velveteen Dream scored a victory in a singles match on NXT and after the match, he was ambushed by KUSHIDA. Drake Maverick and Killian Dain’s storyline continued as well as Maverick saved Dain from a beat down by way of Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish but for the second week in a row, Dain did not accept Maverick’s help.
