During Friday Night SmackDown, a four-way match determined the next contender to challenge Bayley for the SmackDown women’s title at Clash of Champions.

The match saw Nikki Cross defeat Tamina, Lacey Evans, and Alexa Bliss after pinning Tamina with a roll-up and stacked her for the three-count.

Bliss removed herself from the match after turning against Cross and hitting her with Sister Abigail on the floor. The remainder of the match saw Cross and Tamina go back-and-forth until Cross returned to the match and made her comeback.

Prior to the match, Cross made her entrance and passed by Bayley, who was leaving the ring after her interview segment. This led to Bayley attacking Cross with a chair prior to the match.

The two will face each other at Clash of Champions for the SmackDown women’s title on Sunday, September 27th.

They previously had a title match at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules in July where Bayley retained the title.
