WRESTLING NEWS

**WWE has announced a six-man tag for Monday’s edition of Raw with Drew McIntyre and The Street Profits facing Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler & Bobby Roode. They have also added The Kevin Owens Show with guest Bray Wyatt stemming from Friday’s attack by The Fiend and subsequent match announcement for next Friday on SmackDown.

**Brandon Thurston at Wrestlenomics has a breakdown of Impact Wrestling’s viewership on AXS TV this year. Impact’s viewership has been tougher to find as they don’t often appear in the Showbuzz Daily rankings of the top fifty cable programs. In 2020, they are averaging 151,000 viewers and 39,000 among 18-49 viewers over its 39 episodes this year. The show was noticeably hurt over the two weeks where NXT ran on Tuesdays head-to-head with Impact resulting in viewership of 102,000 viewers on September 1st and 78,000 on September 8th, however, they bounced back strong and tied their highest viewership of the year for the September 22nd episode that did 200,000 viewers for a show headlined by Tenille Dashwood vs. Jordynne Grace.

**The overnight figures for Friday Night SmackDown display an average of 2,043,000 viewers on Fox. The hours were broken down to 2,105,000 for the first hour and 1,980,000 for hour two. The second hour of SmackDown went against Game 2 of the NBA Finals that did an overnight figure of 4,311,000 between 8-9 pm Eastern on ABC. SmackDown did a 0.55 in the 18-49 demographic, which put them behind ABC’s programming. The final numbers will be released on Monday reflecting the entire country. (Source: Showbuzz Daily)

**Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful Select reports that there will be limited audience members at NXT TakeOver on Sunday night at the Performance Center. The outlet adds that it is limited to certain friends and family and they will be subjected to a rapid COVID-19 test and mandatory face coverings for the show among the protocols in place. No under the age of 16 will be admitted.

**Paige (Saraya Jade-Bevis) posted the following comments on Twitter regarding her stance on the Twitch story, where it was reported by Raj Giri at Wrestling INC that talent is being asked to hand over control of their accounts to WWE:

Twitch is MY place what I built with my wonderful fans. A place where people can go and feel some positivity and little bit of normalcy. Fun. Interactive. Non judgemental. Charitable place. I’m proud of what I built with my fan base.

You can have all the FaceTime you want on WWE or ANY platform and if you don’t work hard or have something that fans like and relate too then you still aren’t gonna have a fan base. You wouldn’t know the logistics because you’re a slacker bud.

From Mia Yim:

Gaming has been my escape from reality and a way to interact with friends and fans throughout this difficult few months. The community that I gained on twitch also help me raise funds for a friends burial expense and a friend’s kidney transplant. This is why I game.

Dakota Kai:

Starting Twitch up again was purely for three reasons; to have fun as a gamer, communicate with y’all during a difficult year and to give as much possible back to different charities. Thank u all for the continued support.

**On Friday’s episode of NJPW Strong, Clark Connors defeated Logan Riegel and Danny Limelight beat Blake Christian in the semi-finals of the Lion’s Break Crown. The final between Connors and Limelight takes place on next Friday’s show. The other matches on the show saw Brody King & Flip Gordon defeat TJP & Karl Fredericks, and in the main event Jay White, KENTA, Chase Owens & Hikuleo defeated Jeff Cobb, David Finlay, Rocky Romero & Misterioso.

**The first match made official for Hell in a Cell is a rematch between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso for the Universal title inside Hell in a Cell. The card takes place on Sunday, October 25th from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

**The UFC holds its weekly Fight Night from Fight Island tonight starting at 7:30 pm Eastern. This isn’t a show with a lot of depth although there are several stories of interest for the show. The biggest is Holly Holm and her bantamweight main event with Irene Aldana that could have championship implications. For Holm, she is on the cusp of turning 39 and this is a big fight to keep in that championship discussion. Holm did lose to Amanda Nunes in July 2019 but both divisions are lacking a long list of contenders and Holm could put herself in the position to receive a rematch with a victory. Aldana is a fresh name for Nunes to fight and comes into this fight with Holm with a two-fight winning streak. Nunes is currently scheduled to defend her featherweight title against Megan Anderson in December, so it’s not like the bantamweight title is going to be defended until 2021. This is an important night for Carlos Condit and Court McGee who both desperately need victories and find themselves headlining the preliminary card.

Below is the full card:

MAIN CARD (10:30 pm ET on ESPN & ESPN+ and TSN3 & TSN5 in Canada)
*Holly Holm (136) vs. Irene Aldana (136)

*Germaine de Randamie (136) vs. Julianna Pena (135.5)
*Kyler Phillips (136) vs. Cameron Else (136)
*Dusko Todorovic (186) vs. Dequan Townsend (186)
