New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced a one-night Super J-Cup event set for the U.S. on Saturday, December 12th.
The one-night tournament will feature eight participants in a single-elimination format with the following talent being sent from various promotions:
*El Phantasmo
*Clark Connors
*TJP
*ACH
*Blake Christian
*Chris Bey
*Rey Horus
*Lio Rush
Bey is representing IMPACT Wrestling and represents a rare instance of the two sides working together. This comes after Rocky Romero appeared on an AXS TV special with Karl Anderson & DOC Gallows that was produced by IMPACT and included a plug for NJPW Strong on New Japan World.
Horus is representing Ring of Honor while Blake Christian is being promoted as a representative of Game Changer Wrestling.
The Super J-Cup was founded in 1994 with NJPW hosting the tournament with talent a variety of companies converging for the one-night event.
The tournaments in 1994 and 1995 are among the most popular shows of all-time and were heavily circulated at the height of tape trading.
The last J-Cup took place over three nights in 2019 in the U.S. and was won by El Phantasmo, who defeated Dragon Lee in the final.
