The first championship match to take place at AEW Full Gear saw Cody defending the TNT Championship against Darby Allin. In their past three matches, one bout resulted in a time-limit draw while the other two matches went in the favor of Cody. This go-around was for the TNT Title and accompanying Cody to the ring was the entire Nightmare Family.

Towards the conclusion of the match, Cody worked heavily on Darby’s arm and the final sequences of the match came down to the two men exchanging a series of pins and it was Darby who was able to keep Cody grounded on the mat for the three count to capture his first championship in AEW.

Post-match, much to the chagrin of Arn Anderson, Cody presented the TNT Title to Darby and raised his hand. Darby and Cody’s moment was interrupted by Taz who was used as a distraction so Brian Cage and Ricky Starks could ambush Anderson, Cody and Allin.

Cage and Starks dragged Darby past the ringside area and over to the vehicle that was a part of Darby’s entrance and attempted to shut the car door on Darby’s shoulder but Will Hobbs prevented them from doing so.
