Former NXT Champion Karrion Kross suffered a separated shoulder at NXT TakeOver XXX and had to relinquish the championship due to injury. Kross has been out since August and at TakeOver: WarGames, the teases of his return began. On tonight’s episode of NXT, Kross ambushed Damian Priest as Priest was confronting the new North American Champion Johnny Gargano.
Earlier in the night, Pete Dunne, Kyle O’Reilly and Damian Priest threw their names in the hat to challenge NXT Champion Finn Balor. As Finn walked off, he was met on stage by Scarlett. Shortly after, Priest got on the microphone and told Scarlett that if Karrion wants a fight, he [Priest] is available.

After Kross’ attack, he drove off with Scarlett in the passenger seat. Priest made a joke that Scarlett does Kross’ bidding while he “sits in the car” and waits for her to come back with information.
NXT previously announced their next special which is scheduled for January 6th titled ‘New Year’s Evil’.
