WWE NXT notes: NXT Championship match set for New Year’s Evil, Kross vs. Priest

Finn Balor and Kyle O'Reilly are running it back, Damian Priest vs. Karrion Kross set for New Year's Evil, Bronson Reed returning and more.

The main event of NXT New Year’s Evil was made official on the 12/16 episode of NXT on the USA Network. Kyle O’Reilly took on Pete Dunne to determine who’d be Finn Balor’s next challenger for the NXT Championship. After a back and forth bout, it was O’Reilly earning his rematch and securing his title shot at New Year’s Evil. The last time the two clashed which was at TakeOver 31, Balor suffered a fractured jaw and blew out an eardrum.

Also scheduled for New Year’s Evil is a singles match between Karrion Kross and Damian Priest. Kross made his return to NXT last week and ambushed Priest after Priest called him out earlier in the night. Dexter Lumis is hosting the festivities on January 6th.

It was announced during tonight’s program that Bronson Reed is returning to NXT next week. Bronson last wrestled on the October 21st episode and picked up a win over Austin Theory.
