Timothy Thatcher injured, Fight Pit match off NXT New Year’s Evil

Timothy Thatcher suffered what is being described as a "minor" injury and will not be able to compete at NXT New Year's Evil.

NXT is presenting their New Year’s Evil show on the USA Network tonight and via NXT General Manager William Regal, one bout that will not be taking place on the show is the Fight Pit between Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa.

Regal stated in a video that was uploaded to WWE’s social media channels that Thatcher suffered a “minor” injury and will not be able to compete on tonight’s show. Thatcher’s exact injury was not mentioned but Regal added that when Thatcher is cleared, he and Ciampa will have their Fight Pit match. Thatcher won the first Fight Pit in 2020 when he defeated Riddle.

There are now four matches scheduled for New Year’s Evil with three of those being championship matches. Here’s the lineup for the show:

NXT Championship: Finn Balor (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly
– Karrion Kross vs. Damian Priest
Last Woman Standing Match: Raquel Gonzalez vs. Rhea Ripley
NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Santos Escobar (c) vs. Gran Metalik
