WWE informed the public earlier today that the current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre tested positive for COVID-19 and would not be a part of tonight’s RAW. McIntyre stated in a promo that he recorded from home that he’s not experiencing any symptoms. Later during the show, McIntyre addressed the conclusion of last week’s RAW which saw WWE Hall Of Famer Goldberg issue a challenge to him for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
McIntyre accepted the challenge and it’s now official that he’ll defend his title against Goldberg at WWE’s first pay-per-view of 2021.

Other than the respective men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, this is the first bout confirmed for the pay-per-view on 1/31. The upcoming match will be Goldberg’s first since he lost the Universal Championship to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36.
