New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced the return of Sakura Genesis for Sunday, April 4th with the show scheduled for Sumo Hall.
The annual April show at Sumo Hall, which was previously called “Invasion Attack” until 2017, has not occurred in the past two years. In 2019, the company ran Madison Square Garden along with Ring of Honor in lieu of the show in Japan while last year’s event was canceled due to the pandemic.
Typically, the winner of the New Japan Cup challenges for the championship of their choosing at Sakura Genesis.
This year’s New Japan Cup begins on March 5th with the final scheduled for Sunday, March 21st.
Sakura Genesis will be New Japan’s first event at Sumo Hall since the G1 Climax finals last October.
