On Friday’s edition of 205 Live, the show featured two tournament matches from the men’s and women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
In the first match, Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell defeated the debuting Cora Jade & Gigi Dolin after Hartwell slammed Jade and pinned her.
Jade (formerly Elayna Black) and Dolin (Priscilla Kelly) were announced as new signings by NXT earlier this week.
LeRae & Hartwell will advance to the second and meet the winners of the Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Marina Shafir & Zoey Stark match.
In the men’s tournament matches, the makeshift team of Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher advanced beating Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari after Ciampa hit Willow’s Bell and pinned Nese.
Following Thatcher’s win over Ciampa in the Fight Pit on NXT, the two formed a tag team for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with the story that they found mutual respect after their match this past Wednesday.
Thatcher & Ciampa will face Adam Cole & Roderick Strong in the second round of the men’s tournament. The other second-round matches include KUSHIDA & Leon Ruff vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans, MSK vs. Drake Maverick & Killian Dane, and Lucha House Party vs. Legado Del Fantasma.
