Following an excellent TakeOver card, NXT cracked the top fifty cable programs with one of its better numbers of 2021 while still falling behind AEW Dynamite.

Wednesday’s numbers, delayed due to the holiday on Monday, saw AEW Dynamite finish fourth on cable with 747,000 viewers and a 0.31 in the 18-49 demographic. NXT countered with 713,000 viewers and a 0.16 rating in the demo that equated to 39th on the cable charts. It was NXT’s second-highest viewership average of the year.

Both shows saw increases after last week’s coverage of the impeachment hearings dominated cable news. AEW was flat with its overall viewership but improved by 7 percent in the demo while increasing by 20 percent among women 12-34 and up 13 percent with adults 18-34.

NXT improved 33 percent in the key 18-49 demographic and topped AEW with over adults over 50 with a 0.40 rating to AEW’s 0.25. AEW won all the other key demos by notable margins. Since NXT didn’t finish among the top fifty programs last week, we don’t have comparisons for the demos.

NXT only registered a 0.06 with adults 18-34 while women 12-34 hit a 0.04 rating.

Both programs are gearing up for big shows on March 3rd as AEW will feature Shaquille O’Neal teaming with Jade Cargill against Cody Rhodes & Red Velvet as the main attraction that week. NXT is countering with Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. MSK for the NXT tag titles, and Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler defending the women’s tag titles against Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez.

Here is a breakdown of the key demos from this week:
