2021 men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winners MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) were scheduled to get their opportunity at the NXT Tag Team Championships on this week’s edition of NXT on USA Network. On last week’s broadcast, the duo were ambushed backstage by Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) who were defeated by MSK in the finals of the men’s Dusty Cup at TakeOver: Vengeance Day.

NXT commentator Vic Joseph stated that Wes Lee suffered a broken hand during the ambush. Lee posted a video of a hand x-ray to his Instagram page.

Additional information about Lee’s hand injury was provided by way of Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio who stated that Lee suffered the broken hand at TakeOver: Vengeance Day after doing a dive to the outside.

This week’s episode of NXT was supposed to feature two championship matches as 2021 women’s Dusty Cup winners Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are challenging Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the Women’s Tag Team Championships. The men’s title match is no longer being advertised for the show.
