It was announced during Friday Night SmackDown that next week’s episode will feature Edge’s first match on the program in ten years.
At the end of the contract signing between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, Jey Uso suggested becoming the special enforcer for their Universal title match at Fastlane on 3/21. This led to Edge interrupting the segment to challenge Jey to a match next week and the winner becomes the special enforcer at Fastlane.
The last time Edge wrestled on an edition of SmackDown was almost exactly ten years ago when he wrestled Drew McIntyre in March 2011. Less than one month later, Edge had to retire due to his neck problems shortly after WrestleMania 27.
It was also announced that next week’s show will feature Sasha Banks defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nia Jax on the go-home edition for the Fastlane pay-per-view.
Fastlane currently has two matches announced:
*Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (champion) vs. Daniel Bryan with Edge or Jey Uso as the special enforcer
*Women’s Tag Championship Match: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (champions) vs. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair
