The winner of the 2021 New Japan Cup tournament was crowned today and that show also featured the return of former 4-time IWGP Junior Tag Team Heavyweight Champion, YOH.

During the Summer of 2020, YOH competed in the New Japan Cup in a first-round match against BUSHI and it was in that match that YOH tore his ACL. YOH stated in his return appearance that he’ll be back in action for the Sakura Genesis event on April 4th at Ryōgoku Sumo Hall.

YOH stated that he and SHO are coming for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles which are currently in the possession of El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

At the time of YOH’s injury, he and SHO were the Junior Tag Team Champions and had to relinquish the titles. The team that captured the vacant titles were Desperado and Kanemaru.
