This coming Wednesday will be the final head-to-head between the NXT and AEW programs on Wednesday nights as NXT is moving to Tuesdays starting next week. AEW has rolled out several new additions for their show this week and the latest was the announcement that ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson is returning.

The news was broken through an interview that AEW President Tony Khan did with Sports Illustrated. Tyson appeared for AEW in May of 2020 at their Double Or Nothing pay-per-view and the following Wednesday on Dynamite where he got into a scuffle with Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle. Khan explained why he is bringing Tyson back:

There are many reasons I wanted Mike to come back. He made a huge impact last year at Double or Nothing, and we’re at a point where we can bring him back in front of our fans. The fans who have come to the shows in Jacksonville have added so much to AEW, and it’s important for me that our fans get to see him live. We’re excited to have Mike back.

Tony also spoke about Chris Jericho appearing on WWE and Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions following WrestleMania 37 night two. Khan approved Jericho’s appearance because he feels it is a win for fans.

I agreed to that because I have so much respect for both Chris and Steve. It’s a win for the fans to see them both together.

Wednesday’s Dynamite will feature The Young Bucks and Jon Moxley taking on Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega along with singles matches that will see Hangman Adam Page versus Max Caster and The Bunny vs. Tay Conti.
