At the 2020 Survivor Series pay-per-view, Braun Strowman, Sheamus, AJ Styles, Keith Lee and Riddle rounded out Raw’s men’s 5-on-5 team. They won the traditional Survivor Series bout but that match would be Strowman’s last until his return at the 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Following Survivor Series, Strowman was “indefinitely suspended” for attacking Adam Pearce and during that period that he was out, he was rehabbing a torn meniscus, as he revealed to Sports Illustrated.

I’m finally listening to my body. I used to be so worried about just getting big. I was on path to do a bodybuilding show until I tore my meniscus back at Survivor Series last year, and that put a damper on my cardio. A lot of this is mental, and I’m working to give people the absolute best I can.

Strowman is going to be competing for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania Backlash on May 16th. He’ll be a three-way involving Drew McIntyre and the current champion Bobby Lashley.

As of this writing, here’s the lineup for WrestleMania Backlash:

  • SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley
  • WWE Championship — Triple-Threat Match: Bobby Lashley (c) (w/ MVP) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman
