The UFC has confirmed its new main event for this Saturday’s Fight Night card with a women’s flyweight fight scheduled to headline the show.

After the loss of the bantamweight fight between T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen, the UFC has pivoted to a new main event consisting of women’s 125-pound fighters Michelle Waterson (18-8) and Marina Rodriguez (13-1-2). The fight will be scheduled for five rounds from the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Waterson, 35, fought twice in 2020 with a split decision loss to Carla Esparza at UFC 249 in May and a split decision win against Angela Hill this past September, the latter earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.

Rodriguez, 34, also had a split decision loss to Esparza last year but rebounded with a TKO victory against Amanda Ribas this past January at UFC 257. Rodriguez joined the UFC after competing on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil in 2018.

It was also revealed that Alex Morono (18-7, 1 NC) will take the place of recently released fighter Diego Sanchez to fight Donald Cerrone (36-15, 2 NC) this Saturday at the Fight Night event.
