WWE NXT notes: Karrion Kross retains, #1 contender’s match, Franky Monet

Karrion Kross and Finn Balor headlines NXT, Franky Monet makes her in-ring debut, TakeOver: In Your House note and more coming out of NXT TV

Closing out the 5/25 WWE NXT was Finn Balor challenging Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship. It was Kross retaining the gold and he is now moving on to TakeOver: In Your House on June 13 where he’ll be defending his title.

Kross’ opponent at TakeOver will be determined on 6/1. Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne and former North American Champion Johnny Gargano are set to compete in a three-way and the winner moves on to face Kross.

Tonight’s NXT featured the in-ring debut of Franky Monet, the former “Taya Valkyrie”. She defeated Cora Jade (Elayna Black).

There was a segment involving Cameron Grimes, Ted DiBiase and L.A. Knight. As DiBiase was giving Grimes his props, L.A. Knight interrupted and swayed DiBiase over to his side. At the conclusion of the segment, Knight ambushed Grimes and then DiBiase left the ring alongside Knight.

NXT Tag Team Champions MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) are defending their titles against Legado Del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde) on 6/1. The two teams brawled in the ring on the 5/25 NXT. MSK came to the ring to even the odds as Legado had North American Champion Bronson Reed outnumbered.

Following Mercedes Martinez’s win over Zayda Ramier, she was targeted by Tian Sha. Earlier in the show, Boa, who is aligned with Tian Sha and Xia Li was seen tailing Martinez while she was on her way to the ring.

Bobby Fish returned to in-ring action for the first time since TakeOver: WarGames. He fell in defeat to Pete Dunne and post-match, Fish was attacked by Oney Lorcan who was in Dunne’s corner for the match.
