Closing SmackDown was Dominik Mysterio defending the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Rey Mysterio was ambushed before the match began so Dominik defended the titles solo. Towards the conclusion of the bout, Rey’s theme music hit which led to Dominik securing a pin on Ziggler to retain the titles.
Dominik and Rey were then confronted by Jimmy and Jey Uso who defeated The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) in the show opener. The Usos will take on Dominik and Rey with the SmackDown Tag Titles on the line next week.

In addition to the SmackDown Tag Title match, there will be an Intercontinental Title bout as well. Kevin Owens took on Apollo Crews in a non-title match on the 5/28 SmackDown. He almost defeated Crews but Commander Azeez attacked Owens before he got the three count. Adam Pearce then granted Owens an Intercontinental Title match for 6/4 and Azeez is banned from ringside.
Cardi B’s song “Up” is the official theme for the 2021 SummerSlam event on August 21st.
In addition to Drew McIntyre versus Kofi Kingston in a #1 contender’s match on the 5/31 Raw, The Miz is returning to the show to host MizTV with guests Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.
Miz was last seen on WWE programming when he was swarmed by zombies at WrestleMania Backlash. It was reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio that Miz suffered a tear in his ACL during the match.
