During the main event segment of Friday Night SmackDown, Rey Mysterio issued a challenge to Universal Champion Roman Reigns for Hell in a Cell.

Mysterio’s challenge came one week after Reigns attacked both Mysterio and his son Dominik to end the June 4th episode. Mysterio challenge Reigns for a match inside Hell in a Cell before attacking Reigns. Reigns got the upper hand despite Dominik returning to attack Reigns. The closing moments saw Dominik sent out of the ring with an illusion of a powerbomb that sent him to the floor but was the bump was edited.

On SmackDown, Cesaro made his return to the program as he appeared on “Ding Dong, Hello” by knocking on the door and attacking Seth Rollins when he answered it. Cesaro was attacked by Rollins on the May 21st edition of SmackDown following his WrestleMania Backlash match with Roman Reigns.

After Kevin Owens & Big E. defeated Apollo Crews & Sami Zayn in the opening tag match on the show, Crews issued a challenge for Owens & Big E. to face Crews & Commander Azeez next week on the June 18th edition of Friday Night SmackDown. It will be Azeez’s first match since adopting the new character and being aligned with Crews at WrestleMania 37 this past April. Azeez was previously featured on Raw in 2020 as Babatunde.

Next week’s episode will also feature the latest match between Shinsuke Nakamura and King Corbin with the winner gaining possession of the crown. On Friday’s episode, Nakamura pinned Corbin and evened their series at two wins apiece with next week’s match being made by Adam Pearce.
