REPORT: U.S. viewership increases for SmackDown & Dynamite

The U.S. viewership for Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Dynamite saw increases for both programs on Fox and TNT.

The U.S. viewership for Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Dynamite saw increases for both programs on Fox and TNT.

With the Hell in a Cell match between Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio moved up by two days to air on Fox, the show had its best performance on the network since May 7th. Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics reports that SmackDown averaged 2,040,000 viewers and 0.54 in the 18-49 demographic, which represents 700,000 viewers.

The last time the show topped two million viewers was the ‘Throwback’ edition of the show on May 7th that did 2,282,000 and 0.65 in the 18-49 demo.

SmackDown improved by 5 percent in viewers and 12.5 percent in the 18-49 demo from the previous week.

AEW’s fourth consecutive airing on Friday night on TNT saw the show hits its highest viewership average of the four episodes with 551,000 viewers along with 0.20 in the 18-49 demo (261,000 viewers).

After four weeks on Fridays, Dynamite has averaged 514,000 viewers and 0.20 in the 18-49 demo.

In Canada, both shows were hurt by the NHL playoff game with the Montreal Canadiens vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights. SmackDown averaged 133,000 viewers on Sportsnet 360 while Dynamite fell to 38,000 viewers on TSN 2.
